WEEE legislation
In the field of electrical and electronic equipment waste, the concept of extended producer responsibility was introduced in 2002 in the first WEEE Directive (Directive 2002/96 / EC) and subsequently by Directive 2012/19 / EU transposed into national law by the Emergency Ordinance. of the Government no. 5/2015.
According to the law, in accordance with the principle of extended producer responsibility, producers / importers have the responsibility to organize the waste management system for the products they place on the market when it reaches the end of their life cycle.
45% – The minimum collection rate that Romania must meet starting with 2016 which is calculated as a percentage of the average quantities placed on the market in the last 3 years
65% – The minimum collection rate that Romania must meet starting with 2021.
