Study: 4 out of 10 Romanians don’t recycle old electrical appliances because they don’t know where to do it
When asked why they don’t recycle more often, Romanians stated that they don’t have recycling points nearby (44%), lack information about how to properly recycle old appliances (18%), or believe they should be rewarded for doing so (14%).
When it comes to familiarity with collection systems organized in retail, the situation isn’t much better:
only 17% of respondents have either used or know someone who has used the free take-back system for small electrical waste, which does not require the purchase of a new product.
The campaign is part of Environ’s strategy to meet national e-waste collection targets and to raise public awareness about existing collection systems.
The collection points will be set up in retail spaces, showrooms, warehouses, supermarkets, shopping centers, pharmacies, gas stations, convenience stores, residential buildings, and company offices.
The special collection boxes for small used electrical equipment are available in several versions and can be provided to both companies and individuals upon request, by contacting us at office@environ.ro
As an answer to the question that everyone who has ever wanted to recycle has asked themselves — “Where do we recycle?” — the Environ Association has updated its mobile app of the same name, which now includes over 4,000 collection points for electronic waste and used batteries.
In addition to helping users locate the nearest collection point, the “Where Do We Recycle?” app also provides information about door-to-door collection campaigns, practical tips for a sustainable lifestyle, and even includes a home collection request form.
