Constanța launches the 10th edition of Romania Recycles

The national campaign for the collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) “Romania Recycles,” organized by the ENVIRON Association, kicks off on July 15 in Constanța County, in the town of Grădina, and will continue in Hârșova and other localities across the country. All municipalities are invited to join the program, which has led to the collection of over one million kilograms of waste electrical and electronic equipment from Romanian households, within more than 1,000 local actions. The mechanism of the “Romania Recycles” campaign “Romania Recycles” supports local public administrations and citizens by offering a simple, free, and legal model for collecting waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) directly from households. Under the slogan “Keep the memories, but give up old and non-functional electrical appliances,” the campaign aims to clear homes and institutions of appliances that are no longer in use but are kept either out of nostalgia or due to lack of recycling options. In addition, with the adoption of Law no. 127/2024, which approves and amends Government Ordinance 5/2015, it has become even clearer that local public authorities are obliged to ensure the necessary infrastructure for separate collection of electrical waste, in line with European standards.

“Romania Recycles” provides a complete solution for compliance, free of charge and with visible effects in the community.

ENVIRON supports participating municipalities by organizing local collection actions free of charge – from picking up electrical waste directly from households or fixed collection points, to offering symbolic prizes for involved citizens, informative materials, and communication support adapted to the local level.

Registrations for the 10th edition

“Romania Recycles” will take place between July 15 – November 15, 2025, and registrations are open for all administrative-territorial units (ATUs) in the country. Each locality that joins contributes to a cleaner future and to a sustainable standard for collecting used electrical equipment, the fastest-growing waste stream. 📧 secretariat@environ.ro 📞 031 827 0000 🌐 www.romania-recicleaza.ro
