National Team supporters encouraged to recycle small electrical appliances before the Romania–Cyprus match on June 10
“Be the supporter who leaves behind only applause!” is the message of the awareness campaign “The Nature of Common Sense, at Grassroots Level”, launched by the Environ Association and the Romanian Football Federation, in partnership with the National Arena, one week before the Romania–Cyprus match (Bucharest, June 10).
National Team supporters are invited to recycle at the National Arena old mobile phones, headphones and accessories, cables, chargers, and other small electrical waste. The campaign is accompanied by a video in which actor Victor Rebengiuc states that change comes from the grassroots, “from small things, not from statistics,” while Romanian international Florin Tănase urges fans to be those supporters “who leave behind only applause.”
Small-sized electrical waste can be brought to special recycling points set up at the entrances to the National Arena from Basarabia Boulevard, Maior Coravu Street, and Pierre de Coubertin Boulevard.
Organizers offer one ticket to the UEFA EURO U19 final tournament for each recycled item, as well as special prizes to be won through a raffle: one tablet, two smartphones, three sets of headphones (all Oppo brand), and three National Team jerseys.
The winners of these prizes will be announced during halftime of the Romania–Cyprus match, when the Recycling Score will be displayed on the National Arena cube.
“The National Team shows us that fair play is not just a rule of the game. It is a way of life both on and off the field. And when a champion is also a person of integrity, they become a source of inspiration for everyone. The nature of common sense begins at the grassroots, with each of us,” said Roxana Puia, Marketing Director of the Environ Association.
At the same time, the president of the Romanian Football Federation, Răzvan Burleanu, expressed his pride that the National Team “inspires through its demonstration of civility and its responsible attitude towards the environment.”
“Football is about passion, but also about responsibility, and this campaign reflects the values we promote: respect and care for the community. We can be winners off the field too, through simple gestures and care for nature,” added Răzvan Burleanu.
Victor Rebengiuc: “True change does not come from slogans”
The video “The Nature of Common Sense, at Grassroots Level” is part of an awareness campaign initiated by the Environ Association and the Romanian Football Federation. It is a story that combines respect for nature with the spirit of fair play demonstrated by Romania’s National Football Team at Euro 2024. It all stems from the shared need for change currently felt across Romanian society.
“True change does not come from somewhere above. It does not come from slogans. Change begins where we are all equal: at the grassroots. Where we respect each other and everything around us. Change comes from small things that do not appear in statistics, but are felt in everyday life. Even in the stadium,” says actor Victor Rebengiuc, the voice of the video.
The video also features National Team player Florin Tănase, who invites supporters to bring small electrical waste to the National Arena and recycle it at the special collection points before the match.
“Be the supporter who leaves behind only applause!” he urges fans.
