Why a volunteer?
“…If we expect to live in a better world we must contribute to its creation, in order to make the change that we want for this world.” (Mahatma Ghandi).
In a society where the main activity is that of consuming, but no recycling, chaos sets in. Some of us might consider that the uncontrolled circuit of waste in the nature is just a simple and insignificant imperfection of the entire ecosystem, but the inadequate storage of waste causes negative effects, and waste destruction by non-regulated procedures causes the occurrence of emissions and very concentrated and pollutant residues. Electronic residues are responsible for 70% of the total toxic materials in a landfill. Besides metals, like aluminium, this equipment contains very toxic substances such as mercury and chlorofluorocarbon which contaminates the soil and the underground water even in small doses.
The Environ Association supports and encourages voluntariate as a form of expression, action and involvement. If you want to see changes around you, than you should action. If we expect other to do something for us, the change will be slow in coming. Participating in the volunteer programme “Be EcoActive!”, initiated by the Environ Association, you can put your ideas into practice and actively participate in preventing the formation of an uncontrolled circuit of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
