Info

At EU level, the environmental protection is an area of high interest, the community legislation recording a continuous dynamic of development and adjustment to the real conditions of the member states.

Currently, the European Union environmental policy contains more than 400 laws, governing the legal obligations of Member States in relation to five areas of interest: air, soil, subsoil, water, waste and emissions.

In order to protect human health and the environment, the European Parliament and Council have developed the Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC, where new concepts are introduced to throw a new light on the integrated and efficient management of resources and sustainable development: analysis of  the life cycle, the clarification of the moment when a waste ceases to be waste “end of waste”, the adoption and implementation of the “hierarchy of waste” concept with emphasis on the prevention of waste, provisions regarding the extended responsibility of the producer.
As a non-governmental and non-profit organization of taking over the responsibilities of producers and importers of electric and electronic equipment, Environ Association has as main activity the collection, treatment, environmentally sound disposal and recycling of electric and electronic equipment waste (WEEE), in order to achieve the legal goals and objectives provided by the GD 1037/2010 on electric and electronic waste, published in the Official Gazette nr. 0728 of 2 November 2010.

To achieve the objectives of collecting and recycling electric and electronic equipment (WEEE), Environ provides to its members, partners and contributors a wide range of services, including:
