Goals

The role of the Environ Association is to take over the responsibility due on manufacturers and importers regarding the collection, treatment, recovery and non-pollutant disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) pursuant to the Government Decision 448/2005 and to the complementary legislation.

As a non-profit structure, the Environ Association is an economic operator established as a collective organization for the purpose of Article 7 of the Government Decision 448/2005 its object of activity including the performance of economic-financial processes imposed by law for WEEE collective schemes.

The main objective of the Environ Association is to meet waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) collection, reuse, recycling and recovery targets related to the market shares of its members, provided for by the European Directive 2002/96/EC transposed in our legislation through the Government Decision 448/2005.

The strategic goal of the Association is to organize and implement an efficient waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) management system that starts with the collection activity and finishes after having gone through various stages with reuse of resulted fractions.

The priority goal promoted by the Association is a preventive attitude militating for the reuse, recycling and recovery of waste under various forms with the declared purpose of reducing at the minimum the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) disposed in an uncontrolled manner and its negative impact on the environment.
In order to achieve its goals, the Environ Association has proposed and proposes to focus on the following strategic action directions:

a) to promote national collection and treatment solutions, namely to create an integrated, efficient and transparent system for the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment;
b) to develop a partnership with the authorities of the local public administration in order to reduce the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment disposed as unsorted municipal waste and to reach a high level of selective collection;
c) to observe the waste electrical and electronic equipment recovery, reuse and recycling deadlines and rates set out through the National Waste Management Strategy, through the National Waste Management Plan, as well as through the Plan for the implementation of the directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment;
d) to treat contract partners in the same manner;
e) to collect and treat, without making any discrimination, all types of waste electrical and electronic equipment, irrespective of the amounts proposed to be contracted by the economic agents;
f) to initiate research projects and studies in the field of collection, transportation, storage, assessment and treatment of waste and to publish the results thereof;
g) to conduct educational and information/awareness raising programs regarding the benefits of the selective collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE);
h) to cooperate with similar organizations, whether associations, or trade companies;
i) with a view to implementing its goals, to collaborate with any non-profit entity, institution, organization or with any other natural or legal person, in order to reach the Association’s goal.
