The Environ Association is a non-profit WEEE management collective organization having the purpose of taking-over the responsibilities due to manufacturers and importers with respect to the collection, treatment, recovery and non-pollutant disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) as provided for by the Government Decision no. 448/2005.
The Environ Association was established in 2007 at the initiative of four companies: Domo Retail S.A., Asesoft Distribution S.R.L., Singer Appliances S.R.L., ABN Systems S.R.L.
For such purpose, the Environ Association has developed an efficient waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) take-over and recovery system in compliance with the legislation in force and with the National Waste Management Strategy and the National Waste Management Plan subject to a permanent optimization of the operating costs.
The Environ Association is an organization is open both for manufacturers who want to adhere as members, as well as for those who want to conclude a responsibility transfer contract without becoming members.
The main financing instrument of the Environ Association – with a view to fulfilling collection/reuse/recycling/recovery obligations – is the “green tax” charged at the price of sold products. This visible tax is the cost of management of WEEE coming from the products provided for in annex no. 1A to the Government Decision 448/2005, outlined distinctly for the end consumer, as a visible cost that they pay when purchasing a new product.
Additionally, the financing is also ensured by the direct contribution of the manufacturers of equipment dedicated to users other than private households for the equipment supplied in a “business to business” system. This contribution is proportional to the mass and recycling costs of the equipment in the respective category.
The Environ Association supports the attainmnent of the short and medium term targets of the National Environmental Plan for the collection, recovery, reuse and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
